Railway transport in Russia and abroad Now railway transportation in Russia as well as abroad differs by a mass character of freight flow and volumes of passenger traffic, a variety of transported cargoes, relatively low cost of cargoes of great volume transportations on great distances. The railway transportation is favourable, convenient and comfortable. The railway transportation is accepted to be known as a kind of land transport which carries out transportation of cargoes and passengers on railway lines. This kind of transportation has a great value for a human life. Its leading significance is caused by two factors: technical and economic advantages above the majority of other types of transport and concurrence of directions and capacity of the basic transport-economic interdistrict and interstate communications of Russia, or any other country with a configuration and carrying capacity of trunk-railways (unlike river and sea transport).
